Specialists in the fields of allergology, pulmonology, pediatric pulmonology and family medicine have prepared a joint position on the transition of medical aerosols in light of EU environmental regulations.
Experts fully support the efforts of the European Union to protect the environment and improve the quality of life of citizens, but express strong opposition to the potential threat to the availability or complete prevention of access to essential medicines for patients suffering from respiratory diseases who require the use of inhaled medicines, e.g. in the case of asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
The submitted position presents a joint proposal of experts to introduce changes to the proposed regulations.
